Effect of Being Injected with Ethanol on Concentration of Blood Glucose and Epinephrine in Rabbits

Abstract
This article is the study on the variation of blood glucose content by the injection of ethyl alcohol and the effect of epinephrine on blood glucose. The data were obtained from 20 heads of healthy domestic rabbits around 1. 5kg. They were injected with 5ml of Ethanol of 20mg/100ml per kg body weight in the experimental group (10 heads) and 5m1 of physiological saline per kg body weight in the control group (10 heads) for 30 days with injected to abdominal cavity and fasted with water for 15 hours just before breeding and the concentration of blood glucose and epinephrine of rabbits was measured.
The results are summarized as follows;
1. Normal blood glucose and blood epinephrine concentrations of the normal rabbits were 80.40mg/100ml and 932.4?g/l00ml respectively.
2. In the control group, the mean of blood glucose concentration was 79.84mg/looml and epinephrine level was 1124.5 ?g/100ml. It showed the tendency that blood glucose content was reduced a little compared with normal value, while epinephrine levels showed increase.
3. In the experimental group, the mean of the blood glucose and epinephrine concentrations were 97.40?g/100ml and 692.7?g/l00ml respectively. It was notable that epinephrine level of experimental group was decreased, while its blood glucose content was increased conspicuously compared with the control group (p<0.01).
4. By the injection of ethanol, the blood glucose content was increased much and the epinephrine level was decreased remarkably. It is supposed that the increase of the blood glucose content is not due to the effect of epinephrine.
